Brief: LV Slot route operators launch initiative

The NRGA's four members -- Anchor Gaming, ETT, Jackpot Enterprises and United Coin Machine -- will place specially-designed stickers on all their slot machines.
The stickers advertise free gambling addiction hotline numbers, and are placed on machines next to the coin deposit slot. The NRGA members will also provide educational brochures in retail outlets where they operate machines.
The gaming industry is coming under increasing scrutiny for its handling of problem gambling.
The industry is being studied by a federal panel, and Nevada regulators have already proposed tough new laws requiring the posting of gambling addiction hotline numbers, among other measures.
Many industry observers believe gaming companies are getting proactive in their handling of problem gambling to stave off the possibility of even more stringent federal regulations.
