Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998 | 3:42 a.m.
Clementina Balcazar Mendoza, 48, a former loan officer, is accused of assisting a loan applicant and an undercover agent in committing insurance fraud.
The Attorney General's office said Mendoza offered to sell a vehicle owned by a loan applicant to help the applicant qualify for a home loan.
Mendoza allegedly took possession of the vehicle and then aided the applicant in filing a stolen vehicle report to police and Sentry-Dairyland Insurance Co.
Attempts to contact Mendoza for comment failed. If convicted, Mendoza faces up to 16 years in prison and fines of up to $20,000.
