Brief: America West subsidiary to buy Vacation Store

The Leisure Co., a subsidiary of America West that packages a variety of tours, including Las Vegas getaways, is acquiring The Vacation Store, a company that specializes in cruise packages in the Caribbean.
Terms and the amount of the cash deal, expected to close Nov. 1, were not disclosed. The Vacation Store's top two executives, David Kaufman, chief executive officer, and President David Wolfe, will continue in their current roles.
The Vacation Store employs 130 and had 1997 revenues of $19.3 million and 1998 nine months' revenues of $24.3 million.
The Leisure Co. had 1997 sales of $1.9 billion and has a customer base of about 500,000. Packages include air transportation, hotel accommodations, ground transportation and other amenities.
