Editorial: Re-elect Heller as secretary of state
Monday, Oct. 19, 1998 | 10:50 a.m.
Heller has rejuvenated the office, and as the state's chief elections official, has been at the forefront of getting campaign reform enacted into law. One of the significant achievements from the 1997 Legislature was the law lowering the threshold for reporting individual contributions from $500 to $100.
The public's cynicism seems to increase every year, with people growing more disgusted with the ineffectiveness of their elected officials. Heller is an elected official who has worked hard to help instill public confidence. He has done an outstanding job as secretary of state and should be re-elected.
