Brief: Ordinance backed by riverboat casinos
Monday, Oct. 19, 1998 | 12:16 p.m.
Officials of Casino Rouge and the Belle of Baton Rouge had asked the council to adopt an ordinance similar to onces passed in Bossier City and Lake Charles.
"We heartily support this. We feel like it may be a great deterrent to youth," said Joseph Brantley, attorney for Casino Rouge.
Under the old law, casinos could be fined or have their licenses suspended if minors were caught aboard. But those under 21 had not faced a criminal penalty for trying to board a casino.
