The three will be interviewed for the job Oct. 28 by the authority's board.
They are Krys Bart, assistant director of aviation at the San Jose airport; Michael Cheston, general manager of aviation operations at Portland International in Oregon, and Kent George, director of aviation at the Quad City airport in Moline, Ill.
Interim Executive Director Richard Bennett did not make the cut.
"Rich is a class act - just wish he had a little more experience," Phil Miller, chairman of the search committee told the Reno Gazette-Journal after Thursday's meeting.
Bennett took over July 1 when Robert White took early retirement after refusing to fire his director of administration, Jim Kitchel, as trustees encouraged him to do. Kitchel then resigned and also will be replaced.
The next director will make between $93,000 and $140,000 a year.
That's well above the $89,000 Cheston makes in Portland. Bart earns $117,000 in San Jose and George's salary in Illinois is $144,000.
