Brief: Business groups back riverboat gaming initiative

Voters must decide the issue because the Missouri Supreme Court ruled games of chance are legal only in the main channels of the Missouri and Mississippi rivers. The industry had placed casinos in man-made moats.
The Kansas City Star reported the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce did not endorse gaming, but instead said it would be unfair to change the rules governing riverboats after they were built.
The St. Louis Regional Commerce and Growth Association also said it would be unfair to change the rules, the Star reported.
