Former Boulder City councilman McEwan dies

John S. 'Mac' McEwan, who served on the Boulder City Council in the late 1970s and early '80s and was a resident of Boulder City for half a century, has died. He was 81.
Services were today for McEwan who died Friday.
A former Army lieutenant colonel during World War II, McEwan was interred at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City.
McEwan, who worked as a hydraulic engineer for the Bureau of Reclamation, was retired from the federal government.
Born Dec. 18, 1916, in Shelley, Idaho, McEwan moved to Boulder City in 1948.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Boulder City Veterans of Foreign Wars.
McEwan is survived by his wife, Beaulah McEwan; a daughter, Leslie McEwan of LaMesa, Calif.; a son, John McEwan of Olympia, Wash.; a brother, Bill McEwan of Ridgecrest, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, handled the arrangements.
