Florida, Illinois teams win Oldsmobile scramble

For the second year in a row, teams from Florida and Illinois have won the Oldsmobile Scramble National Finals held in Las Vegas.
Ponce De Leon Golf Club of St. Augustine, Fla., overcame a two-shot deficit to win the Gross Division in the 15th Oldsmobile Scramble National Finals played at The Badlands Golf Club. Ponce De Leon shot a 15-under par 57 for a four-round total of 60-under-par 228.
PGA Club Professional Mark Tutor and amateurs Richard Mummaw, Jeff Blacker, Jerry Sherrod and Ted Petit mark the second year in a row that a Florida team has won the National Finals. Hibiscus Golf Club of Naples, Fla., won the 1997 Net Division.
Third-round leader Rickenbacker Golf Club of Groveport, Ohio, finished in a three-way tie for second with a four-round total of 230.
Lake Forest Country Club of Hudson, Ohio, and first-round leader Twin Falls Golf Club of Twin Falls, Idaho, carded 57 and 56, respectively, for a four-round total of 230.
Tamarack Golf Club of Naperville, Ill., maintained their third-round lead, posting a 17-under 55 for a four-day total of 219 and captured the Net Division title at Rhodes Ranch Golf Club. PGA Club Professional Ryan Brickley and amateurs Cliff and Art Schoenenberger, Craig Loveless and Matt Simonton held off three teams to win by two shots.
