Letter: Wynn’s vision belies eyesight
Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998 | 11:44 a.m.
I lived in Las Vegas for five years in the late '70s. My father always asks me why I don't move back, and I say "there are no museums." My father replies, "there's the Liberace museum, and the doll museum!"
After talking to some people in Santa Monica, Calif., everyone seems interested and excited about it. Wynn will only show part of the collection in the beginning of the opening. I jokingly said, "He doesn't want to give the people culture shock."
His loss of sight seems to be an oxymoron for his new vision for Las Vegas. If what Wynn created, by following his heart, succeeds, it will be a renewal of spirt for people. As Wynn says, "Las Vegas has to take itself to another level, to appeal to the human spirt."
Recently spoken at Tom Bradley's funeral service were these words: "A man that speaks from his heart is listened to."
