Letter: NOW leader not doesn’t speak for this woman
Thursday, Oct. 8, 1998 | 10:22 a.m.
When Larry asked Ireland why her organization was so vehemently against Clarence Thomas in his harassment case with Anita Hill, but turned their backs on Paula Jones, Gennifer Flowers, Monica Lewinsky, Kathleen Willy, etc., she remarked that President Clinton had done more for American women than any other president in years, and she didn't feel his actions warrant impeachment.
But when her opponent, Bay Buchannan tried to explain that any person, including the president of the United States, commits perjury, lies under oath, etc., should either resign or be impeached for the good of the country, she was either cut short by King or interrupted by Ireland.
What a bunch of hypocritical, biased females in the feminist movement who feel they can pick and choose the women and men they wish to support regardless of their moral standing in the country as long as they agree with their public policy.
NOW is not a voice for me and I'm sure there are thousands of others that feel as I do.
