Brief: Union torments subcontractor
Thursday, Oct. 8, 1998 | 2:27 a.m.
Amalgamated Safety is a subcontractor for Meadow Valley Contractors, which has been the target of an union organizing campaign.
The union cited 112 "deficiencies" issued to Amalgamated Safety by the Transportation Department between March 25 and Sept. 21.
The deficiencies included items like failing to set up signs, keeping equipment too close to the road and causing congestion by removing equipment late. Attempts to contact Amalgamated Safety for comment failed.
