Letter: Theft, vandalism of car a shocker
Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998 | 12:10 p.m.
I went out to look and, sure enough, it was just gone. No one knows what a shock this is. I called the police and gave them a full description and answered questions.
I was asked was it paid for and so forth. We had saved and worked hard to pay cash for our new car six years ago, because we were in our late 60s and knew we could never buy another one.
When the police came to our house several hours later they told us they had found our car, that some juveniles had taken it and rammed it through the front of our beautiful home. It wasn't until a while later this really sunk in, that some young people could jimmy the lock and hot wire our beautiful car, steal the registration and insurance papers and tools we used to put a knob on the steering because my husband uses because of a terrible stroke last year.
I can't imagine where the parents of these youngsters are who are out stealing and doing a thing to an old couple who have never hurt anyone. I doubt they will ever read this because they are so stupid they can't read. All they know is how to hurt people. Is this what parents teach their kids nowadays? Don't they teach them any respect or morals?
The police say they have a pretty good idea who is doing this as they have had other reports and incidents.
To you youngsters, don't you have anything better to do? Is this your idea of fun? Have you ever done something to be proud of? We are without a car for a couple of weeks because you had your fun! Get a life. Go to school and make yourself a life.
