Letter: Clinton should take the blame
Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998 | 12:11 p.m.
All three either forgot or failed to mention that the president lied to us eight months ago. He lied in the deposition of the Paula Jones civil case, which he is now trying to settle because he is open to contempt charges, plus sexual harassment charges, and lied before a federal grand jury.
Remember, that both he and Hillary Rodham Clinton said in 1974 that Richard Nixon should be impeached even if he did not commit a felony. They both said he brought disgrace on America.
Clinton brought disgrace and dishonor on his Cabinet, friends, supporters and politicians by lying to them eight months ago and allowing them to defend his immoral, unethical and illegal actions.
He could never pass a security clearance yet he has our fate in his hands as commander in chief.
His apologists should stop blaming Kenneth Starr, the Christian right, the right-wing conspiracy, Arkansas haters, Paula Jones, Monica Lewinsky, Newt Gingrich and assorted politicians and woman for his character flaws.
The Constitution dictates that the House of Representatives may recommend impeachment. The Senate will be the jury, not spin doctors or opinion polls.
