And while Paul-Son posted a loss of $298,000 or 9 cents per share, this was down from $448,000 or 13 cents lost in the year-earlier quarter.
Paul-Son says it's the nation's leading manufacturer and supplier of casino table game equipment with plants in Las Vegas and San Luis, Mexico.
Chairman and Chief Executive Paul Endy Jr. called the first-quarter results disappointing and said they reflect a lack of significant casino chip sales and new casino openings.
But he reported a favorable shift in Paul-Son's product line, with manufactured products representing about 75 percent of sales vs. 51 percent in the year-ago quarter.
