Letter: Lincy’s gift to Opportunity Village appreciated
Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998 | 9:26 a.m.
While I could say "thank you" a thousand times, nothing I could say would ever be as poignant or heartfelt as the words of gratitude of one of our clients, Mark. I would like to present you with some of his thoughts about benevolent organizations like the Lincy Foundation, and the other businesses and individuals that support us:
"My name is Mark. I work hard every day at Opportunity Village, and I love my job. I have lots of friends here. I won't ever own a big hotel or ride in a limousine. But I am smart enough to know that those people who do, worked hard just like me. I'm glad they think about me and my friends at Opportunity Village and help us.
"They help me have a place to go every day. I work hard and do a good job. If people didn't help Opportunity Village, I wouldn't be able to go to work and make my own money. I wouldn't have a place to go. They give me a chance to take care of myself.
"Important people don't come to Opportunity Village to visit very much, so we don't get to meet them. We wish they would come and see what we do. It's almost time for our Magical Forest, and I wish they would come see it because it's awesome! We love them, and I want to send them a big hug from everybody for being so nice to us. I pray for them every night and know God loves them, too, for helping us."
