Three championships will be decided tonight when the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) National Hot Shoe Championship Series invades the half-mile clay track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Heading the field will be George Roeder II of Monroeville, Ohio, who is leading the 750cc Expert Class with a 16-point lead over Rich King of Dysart, Iowa. Roeder leads the division with two wins.
In the 600cc Expert Class, only three points separate leader Dan Stanley of Bellingham, Wash., and second-place rider Kenny Coolbeth Jr. of Warren, Conn. Stanley leads the division with a pair of victories. Brian Shirley of Chatham, Ill., who has two victories, leads Thomas McGrane Jr. of Gap, Penn. by 17 points in the 600cc Pro Sport Class. Gates open at 5 p.m., with racing set to start at 8 p.m.
Saturday's action will include the final round of the AHRA event. The AMA Grand National Dirt Track Championship Series will be presented at the half-mile clay track, with gates opening at 5 p.m. and racing set for 8 p.m.
