Yard sale -- The Meadows School Library will have its seventh annual yard sale 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the school, 8601 Scholar Lane. It's yearly pumpkin decorating contest will be Oct. 27-29. For more information call Mrs. Drake at 254-1610 ext. 235.
Television star -- Robert O'Reilly, who stars as the Klingon leader Gowron on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," will be at the Boulevard mall from 1-3 p.m. Saturday to meet fans and sign autographs to celebrate the opening of the "Starbase 1" store. Call 893-4747 for more information.
Ballet gala -- The Nevada Ballet Theatre begins its 27th season 7 p.m. Saturday with a one-night only opening Gala Performance at Cashman Theatre. Guest artists to perform include Atlanta Ballet principal ballerina Hye-Young Kim; and Hye-Kyung Lim, Jae-Won Hwang and Dragos Mihalcea of Universal Ballet. Tickets are $15, $27, $37 and $47. Artwork unveiled -- Taboo Tabee Contemporary will unveil the mural/sculpture "Industrial Needlepoint," a collaboration by artists Wilbur Hathaway II and Christoff Koon, 5 p.m. Saturday, followed by a reception which both artists will attend. Halloween haunts -- Texas Station Gambling Hall and Hotel is getting a will host the "Texas Screamer" today through Oct. 31 in its southwest parking lot. Hours are 6 p.m. to midnight through Oct. 22; and 6 p.m.-midnight Sundays through Thursday, until 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday beginning Oct. 23. Tickets are $8 for adults; $6 for children age 11 and under, and may be purchased at the door (parental discretion is advised). A portion of the proceeds will be donated to C.P. Dead man's party -- Lied Discovery Children's Museum will host its "Los Diasde Los Muertos" (The Days of the Dead) celebration during October and November. Festivities will include a series of programs and activities in recognition of the Hispanic holiday observed on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1. Acting lectures -- Joe Behar of the Community Drama Workshop, will present the first in a series of lectures this fall at the Whitney Library Theater, 5175 E. Tropicana. Holiday Festival -- The Cultural and Community Affairs Division City of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services will sponsor a Holiday Festival Dec. 12-13 in the ballroom of the Charleston Heights Arts Center. Upcoming productions -- The Community College of Southern Nevada theater seasons opens Oct. 9 with "Lend Me a Tenor," followed Nov. 13 by "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying"; the drama "Fences" Mar. 12-21; and "Pump Boys and Dinettes" Apr. 16-25.
Schooling school -- The City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor an introduction to home schooling 1-3 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Silver Springs Recreaton Center, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway.
