Friday, Oct. 2, 1998 | 11:37 a.m.
Sunday night Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., and Rep. John Ensign, R-Nev., will meet for their second debate before the Nov. 3 election, but this time it will be televised.
The two were involved in a heated debate in Sun City on Sept. 26 in front of about 500 senior citizens.
This weekend's debate will be broadcast on KLVX-TV Channel 10 live beginning at 9 p.m. The debate also will be simulcast nationwide on C-SPAN and is being moderated by KLVX News and Public Affairs Director Mitch Fox.
Channel 10's Nov. 3 election night coverage will include closed captioning for the hearing impaired, sponsored by St. Rose Dominican Hospital, and simultaneous Spanish language translation will be carried on Channel 10's Spanish Alternative Programming channel.
BURNS TO SPEAK -- Jim Burns, Libertarian candidate for the District 1 Congress Seat, will be the featured speaker at a meeting of the Libertarian Party of Clark County on Oct. 7.
Burns, who will face Democrat Shelly Berkley and Republican Don Chairez in the Nov. 3 election, will speak at the West Sahara Library at 7:30 p.m.
JONES TO ADDRESS SENIORS -- The North Las Vegas Chapter of the National Council of Senior Citizens will have Democratic gubernatorial candidate and Las Vegas Mayor Jan Laverty Jones as a guest speaker at the group's Oct. 6 meeting.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the West Las Vegas Library. Other speakers include Rose McKinney-James, candidate for lieutenant governor, and incumbent candidate Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev.
NCSC State President Scott Watts and NCSC Regional Director Howard Owens also will attend the meeting.
