Cox also pledged $150,000 per year to establish a cable TV educational channel that will be operated by a partnership including UNLV, the Community College of Southern Nevada and the Clark County School District.
Cox's five local cable TV franchising authorities are matching the $150,000, bringing the total yearly contribution to $300,000. The five authorities are Clark County, Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson and Boulder City.
The Greenspun school is named for the former publisher of the Las Vegas Sun. The Greenspun family -- owner of the Sun -- this year sold a controlling interest in Prime Cable of Las Vegas to Cox Communications, which now runs the local cable TV company.
