Signs installed to drive business to White Pine County
Monday, Nov. 23, 1998 | 9:37 a.m.
The signs being put up by the White Pine County Business Council will advertise the highway as the shortest route to primary destinations and Ely as a full-service community.
"This program is aimed at diverting traffic off of Interstate 15 and encourages travel up and down Highway 93," council member Larry Metcalf told the Ely Daily Times.
The council also wants to capitalize on traffic to Salt Lake City for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.
Signs already have been placed near Las Vegas and Blackfoot, Idaho. Plans call for other signs to be installed north of Las Vegas and near Twin Falls, Idaho.
