Brief: Casino loses $1.5 million

The casino company, previously known as Casino America Inc., reported net income of $1.92 million, or 8 center per diluted share, for the quarter, compared to $1.07 million, or 5 cents a share, for the same period a year ago. Revenue was $106.9 million, compared to $106.2 million for the same quarter in 1997.

Isle of Capri Casinos owns and operates riverboat and dockside casinos in Biloxi and Vicksburg in Mississippi, and in Bossier City and Lake Charles in Louisiana. The company also operates the Pompano Park Harness Racing Track in Pompano Beach, Fla. Isle of Capri expects to open its land-based casino in Black Hawk, Colo., in 1999.

Isle of Capri chairman and CEO Bernard Goldstein said the Biloxi casino lost about $1.5 million during the weeklong shutdown ordered during Hurricane Georges.
