Bishop Gorman pitcher Nate Fouts, who helped his team get to the American Legion World Series last summer, has signed a letter of intent to play at UNLV next year.
The senior, who will likely be the Gaels' No. 1 starter this spring, went 12-2 with a 2.40 ERA over the summer. "His very durable, and his competitiveness makes him a good pitcher," Gorman coach Tim Chambers said.
Fouts said he chose UNLV in large part because of the presence of second-year pitching coach Mel Stottlemyer Jr., brother of current major leaguer Todd and son of former major leaguer Mel Sr. "I can relate to him real well, and I respect him too," Fouts said.
