Imperial Byzantine Ball will feature nobility, pageantry
Knights of the Order of St. John, an ecumenical order providing charity, will be coming from countries such as Russia, Belgium, France, Spain and Italy for an investiture ceremony, in which Imperial and Royal Highness Prince Henri Constantine Paleologo will bestow knighthood on six Las Vegas residents for their contributions to the community. Paleologo is from Cannes, France.

Less fortunate remembered on holidays
Many come to Las Vegas chasing a dream, then find out they don't have enough money for rent. Some single parents are working two or three jobs, raising their children in low-rent motels and unable to make ends meet, Jackie Davis, Las Vegas City Mission executive director, said.
Vegans can help brighten holidays
"We need bell ringers desperately," said Sumner Dodge, director of community relations for Salvation Army. Bell-ringing begins Friday, and only two dozen of the 75-plus bell ringers needed have volunteered.
