School Board member Lois Tarkanian will host a parent advisory meeting at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 18 at Griffith Elementary School, 324 Essex Dr. Tarkanian represents District E, the northwest section of metropolitan Las Vegas.
The bond oversight committee will meet at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 19 in the fifth floor conference room of the Clark County Department of Department of Aviation at McCarran International Airport. The panel reviews school bond expenditures.
The Attendance Zone Advisory Committee recently announced its revised meeting list: Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. and Nov. 24 at 9 a.m. Both meetings are at the Education Center, 2832 E. Flamingo Rd. The Nov. 16 meeting has been canceled. The committee studies school attendance zones to determine whether changes in boundary lines could ease crowding at certain schools.
At 10 a.m. Saturday Sen. Richard Bryan, D-Nev, will dedicate the Logandale Recreational Trails System.
The project, which received a grant from Nevada's Division of State Parks Recreational Trails Program, creates an off highway vehicle recreation area between Logandale and Overton.
Community representatives also plan an annual orientation, meet with local high schools, provide support counseling for participants and screen potential host families.
Representatives spend between one to two hours a week with the exchange students. Expenses are reimbursed. For more information, call 1-800-888-9040.
