Letter: Cigarette smoking is individual’s choice
Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1998 | 10:48 a.m.
I have never smoked, and I do not like being around someone with a cigarette. But that is my choice. If these teenagers choose to smoke, I believe it is their right to do so.
Some of their parents smoke and do not care if their children do. How can our country keep controlling people? It should be their right to smoke and no one else's business, if parents don't care.
Why don't they control the drinking? That is the most horrible beverage ever. No one ever smoked several cigarettes, got into a car, and killed someone.
There are so many lives destroyed by drinking. It is much worse than any cigarette. Leave these teenagers alone if they choose to smoke.
More and more rights are slowly being taken away.
