Letter: Jefferson would not have lied about affair
Monday, Nov. 9, 1998 | 9:15 a.m.
I'm sure that if Jefferson was confronted by my ancestors as to having an affair with a slave girl, he would have had the backbone to look them straight in the eye and tell them that it was none of their business -- or the famous "no comment" would have taken care of it, too.
However, I was looked straight in the eye and flat out lied to -- over and over again.
