Miller names Henderson woman to education board

CARSON CITY -- Gov. Bob Miller Monday named Doris Femenella of Henderson to the state Board of Education to replace Donna Husted of Clark County who moved out of Nevada.

Femenella, who will serve until the next general election in November 2000, has 28 years experience as a high school and intermediate school administrator and elementary school teacher in Westbury, New York. She is now a self-employed community organizations and communications consultant.

The governor also named Sam Smith, a member of the Clark County Fire Department to the state Equal Rights Commission, replacing Ken Brass of Las Vegas. Other appointments by the governor included Sharon Rorman of Las Vegas to the Libraries and Literacy Council to succeed Carol Rhodes of Reno; Dave Carter of Las Vegas to the Motorcycle Safety Advisory Board to replace Dale Bowgren, also of Las Vegas and Dorothy Perkins to the state Nursing Board to succeed Eleanor Zamora, also of Las Vegas.

The governor named Erol Turner of Las Vegas to the state Oriental Medicine Board succeeding Kenneth Landow, also of Las Vegas; Ed Gonzales of Las Vegas to the Private Investigators Licensing Board to replace Robert McGuire of Carson City and Bob Walsh, Kathryn Kelly and Vicki Hamm, all of Las Vegas to the Workforce Investment Board.
