Brief: AC casinos post 7.6 gain in monthly gambling win
Tuesday, Nov. 3, 1998 | 2:31 a.m.
The Press said casinos held 15.7 percent of the money exchanged into gaming chips, a significant increase from last October's 14.6 percent. Atlantic City's long-term hold percentage is 15.5 percent.
Slot machine revenue rose 8.5 percent in October, reported the Press.
The Press said the increases were led by the three Trump casinos -- the Taj Mahal, Plaza and Marina -- which reported combined revenue increases of 12.5 percent. Hold percentages increased at each Trump casino, but the Marina led the way with an increase to 18.6 percent from 13.5 percent last October.
Gaming revenue was up 14.6 percent at Harrah's Atlantic City and 3.2 percent at the newly expanded Caesars Atlantic City. Gaming revenue was down at Claridge and Resorts.
Through the first 10 months of 1998, gross gaming revenues for Atlantic City were $3.4 billion, a 3 percent increase. The unofficial results reported by the Press are subject to change before submission to the state next week.
