Dolores Barnes, 81, of Pahrump died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 9, 1917, in Oklahoma. A resident for 31 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by two daughters, Bobbie Turner of Las Vegas and Alice Lancaster of Pahrump; three sons, Louie Carr of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and John Carr and Don Barnes, both of Des Moines, Iowa; one sister, Irene McAlpine of Alabama; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.
Lucille Elliot
Lucille Elliot, 87, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born June 11, 1911, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 45 years, she was a retired hotel hostess, a member of Hadassah and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society.
She is survived by one son, Robert Elliot, and one daughter, Joann Elliot, both of Canton, Mass.; and one brother, Ernest Berry of Lauderhill, Fla.
Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.
The family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, 1325 E. Harmon Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89119, or the National Kidney Foundation of Nevada, 3050 E. Desert Inn Road, Suite 121, Las Vegas, NV 89121.
Ralph Floyd
Ralph Floyd, 69, of North Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born April 9, 1929, in Chesapeake, Ohio. A resident for 27 years, he was a retired gardening business owner and a Korean War Air Force veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; four daughters, Carol Lynn Minyard and Teresa Denise Richardson, both of Chattanooga, Tenn., Christine Pohl of Garland, Texas, and Lisa Altman of Las Vegas; one son, Marvin J.D. Mitchell of Chattanooga; four sisters, Wanda Hayes of Scottsdale, Ohio, Juanita England of Proctorville, Ohio, Nancy Floyd of Akron, Ohio, and Frances Floyd of Chesapeake; two brothers, Larry Floyd of Chesapeake and Jimmy Floyd of Abilene, Texas; and 21 grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 1-5 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in College Park Baptist Church, 2101 E. Owens Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.
Julie Ann Karstedt
Julie Ann Karstedt, 42, of Henderson died Saturday in a local hospice. She was born Dec. 13, 1955, in Tacoma, Wash. A resident for 27 years, and a UNLV graduate and a retired Green Valley High School teacher who had been with the Clark County School District for 19 years.
She is survived by her husband, Michael; her parents, Charles and Marlys Greenfield of Las Vegas; one sister, Christie Smith of Vallejo, Calif.; and two brothers, Shane Greenfield and John Greenfield, both of Las Vegas.
Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Chapel, Eastern. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.
The family suggests donations to the Julie Karstedt Memorial Scholarship Fund at Green Valley High School.
Richard C. Mendoza Sr.
Richard C. Mendoza Sr., 66, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born April 3, 1932, in Carlsbad, N.M. A resident for three years, he was a retired restaurant chef.
He is survived by his wife, Juana B.; four sons, Robert B. Mendoza and Anthony L. Mendoza, both of Las Vegas, Ricky C. Mendoza Jr. of Visalia, Calif., and Rene O. Mendoza of San Jose, Calif.; six daughters, Angelique L. Smith of Altus, Ark., Joan C. Higashi of Las Vegas, Sylvia M. Ramirez of Lodi, Calif., Betty M. Garcia of Stockton, Calif., Arlene M. Soto of San Jose and Vanessa M. Mina of Stockton; two brothers, Sam C. Mendoza of Manteca, Calif., and Elias C. Mendoza of Glendale, Ariz.; five sisters, Virginia M. Zepeda, Irma M. Vellasenor, Rachel M. DeLara and Shirley M. Gallardo, all of Manteca, and Connie M. Uribe of Stockton; and 18 grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 1-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Palm Chapel, Cheyenne. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest.
John Merola Jr.
John Merola Jr., 54, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 3, 1944, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 16 years, he was a former owner of a construction business.
He is survived by his wife, Denise Jajey, and one sister, Paula Farrell, both of Henderson; and two loving nieces.
The family is receiving guests from 3 p.m. until a 4 p.m. memorial service Wednesday at Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Anthony Monaghan
Anthony Monaghan, 71, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 1, 1927, in Ireland. A resident for eight years, he was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and the Irish Club in Chicago.
He is survived by his wife, Anne J.; two sisters, Mary Cafferkey of Scotland and Cecilia Kennedy of Ireland.
Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Tuesday with a 4 p.m. rosary in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Viator Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road.
Florelle Oldfield
Florelle Oldfield, 72, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. She was born Feb. 28, 1926, in Niagara Falls, N.Y. A resident for 28 years, she was a retired insurance secretary.
She is survived by two brothers, Thomas Oldfield of Niagara Falls and George Oldfield of Henderson.
Services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
Bertha Parkin
Bertha Parkin, 82, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 11, 1915, in Chester, Pa. A resident for 15 years, she was a retired retail buyer.
She is survived by her husband, Fredrick; and one daughter, Bea Parkin of Las Vegas.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.
Stanley Sandusky
Stanley Sandusky, 55, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 18, 1943, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was an automobile mechanic.
He is survived by two sons, Gene Marquez of Kansas and Paul Marquez of California; two daughters, Lena Sandusky and Jolene Sandusky, his mother, Marcelina Sandusky, and two brothers, Gene Sandusky and Ken Sandusky, all of Las Vegas; two sisters, Carmen Rhoda of Las Vegas and Norma Hadland of California; and nine grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. A private burial will follow.
