Brief: Details unveiled for new resort on Flamingo

The resort, to be located on 28 acres, would be near the existing Gold Coast and Rio hotel-casinos on Flamingo.

Planned amenities include 2,033 guest rooms, a 234,000-square-foot casino, and conference, entertainment, restaurant and shopping areas.

The 2.1 million square-foot, 50-story building would be constructed in two phases, with 514 rooms going up in phase one, and 1,519 in phase two.

Many area developers and land owners are rushing casino plans through the approval process in advance of a Dec. 31 deadline set by a law designed to limit the spread of casino resorts away from established resort areas.
