Brief: Casino developer seeks approvals

The 18-story resort would be on 11.8 acres and include 900 hotel rooms, 300 time-share units, a casino, retail shops, restaurants, taverns, indoor recreation facilities, and an outdoor pool and plaza area.
The resort will look like a Bavarian ski chalet, said Jim Shadlaus, a partner at Richard Tam Enterprises.
Tam recently said he was discussing the possibility of building a 1,000-room Playboy-themed casino resort and time-share complex on the site. Shadlaus said no deal has been reached with Playboy, but that plans could change and the resort could end up with a Playboy component or be completely Playboy-themed.
Under the terms of a new law designed to limit the spread of casinos beyond established resort areas, any off-Strip property approved for a casino by Dec. 31 must be built by the end of 2002.
Shadlaus said Tam was seeking equity partners, including time-share companies, to help finance the project by that deadline.
