It took Metro Police almost four hours to coax a woman out of her house Sunday where she was accused of pointing a gun at her boyfriend's teenage son.
Kelly McMurray, 36, was jailed on charges of assault with a deadly weapon that police described as a small handgun upon retrieving it from the woman's home at 4461 Isabella Ave., near Lamb Boulevard and Stewart Avenue.
A 16-year-old boy's late morning call for help initially sent patrol officers en route to the house when he claimed McMurray had threatened him with the gun during an argument, Lt. Rick Alba said.
Officers made repeated verbal attempts to get the woman out of the house before requesting the Special Weapons and Tactics team about noon. During the three hours SWAT spent surrounding the house, negotiators maintained telephone contact with the woman for an hour and a half and eventually got her and a 13-year-old son to come out.
Police found a handgun inside the residence after receiving permission to enter from the woman's boyfriend who was not home during the standoff, Alba said.
