INDIANAPOLIS -- Las Vegas-area drivers Sam Schmidt and Davey Hamilton were 11th and 15th fastest, respectively, Thursday in the final Carburetion Day practice for the 82nd running of the Indianapolis 500 Sunday.
Schmidt ran 24 laps with a best of 215.203 mph in the Best Western Gold Crown Racing Special Dallara/Aurora. Hamilton ran 20 laps in the Reebok/Nienhouse Motorsports G Force/Aurora with a top circuit of 213.828.
"We ran about 15 conservative laps on full fuel," Schmidt, who starts sixth in the field of 33, said. "We shook it down and everything went well."
"There are some guys out there who are faster than we are and they have been all week," Hamilton said. "But it's a long race and I know I have the best pit crew in the place."
Sweden's Kenny Brack had the fastest lap Thursday at 220.994, followed by A.J. Foyt teammate and pole winner Billy Boat at 219.181.
