Letter: Boys’ actions were way over the line

If it acts like "sexual assault," then it is just that. Normal young boys should not be involved in such a violent act, no matter how long the attack occurred. What were these boys' intentions? Well, it definitely was not good.
There is something seriously wrong with a society that will accept this as "typical horseplay." This crosses way over the line. Those boys should have been sitting in a juvenile detention center, waiting for their parents to pick them up, as well as being suspended and then made to seek counseling along with their parents.
That poor girl won't feel safe at her own school anymore, and who can blame her? There is not a big enough deal being made of this crime. What will these boys be capable of at age 11 or 12? At this rate, they will probably be toting a gun in no time.
Why are the offenders getting a slap on the wrist? This was a violent and disturbing act, and all adults involved in this matter need to wake up and should not tolerate this type of bad behavior. Let's protect the victims. Solve the problem, don't bury it.
