Busy weekend for preps

It will be a busy weekend for local prep sports fans, with five separate Southern Zone tournaments slated to wrap up by Sunday. The softball tournament is down to three teams -- Silverado, Green Valley and Cimarron-Memorial, and will finish up today at Sunset Park. The baseball final four will be whittled down to two state qualifiers -- and the zone champion -- Saturday at UNLV. In track, the top local athletes will take the field Saturday at Cheyenne High School, with the field events scheduled to start at 3 p.m. and the track events slated for 5. The zone's divers will begin their annual event tonight at 6 p.m. at UNLV, and the swimmers' all-day meet will start Saturday at 9 a.m., also at UNLV.
