So far, casinos and other businesses have chipped in $25,000. Backers of the event say they need twice that amount.
The Eldorado Hotel Casino and the Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. of Reno each have kicked in $5,000. The Club Cal-Neva has chipped in $1,000.
Skyfire Executive Director Bill Johnson, who faces the challenge of raising the money each year, said there will be a new twist this summer.
The show at Rancho San Rafael Park will be free, as always, but people will be asked to make a donation if they want to. Johnson said anything from pocket change to a dollar or two will be welcome.
