Randi Thompson files for Assembly District 37 seat

Thompson, 37, has worked for the Fish and Wildlife Service, National Park Service, and Department of Energy. She also worked as a lobbyist at the Nevada Legislature, opposing the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste dump, and has lobbied Congress as well.

Currently, she manages her family's restaurant, Snoshu's Tavern, in Reno and her own marketing firm. She also has been involved as a staffer in numerous campaigns over the past 20 years.

Other Republicans who already have filed for the Assembly seat, representing Carson City and part of Washoe County, include Gregory Brower, Riho Saffen and anti-prostitution activist John Reese.

Carson City Supervisor and Tahoe Regional Planning Agency board member Kay Bennett has said she'll run for Ernaut's seat, but she hasn't filed yet.

Other legislative candidates who filed Wednesday included Roger Bishop, who filed for the Assembly District 38 seat held by Assembly Speaker Joe Dini, D-Yerington. The district takes in Lyon and Storey counties and part of Carson City.
