Gov. Miller recognizes five scouts for bravery

The boys include Joel Lara of Fallon, who at age 15 jumped into a 9-foot-deep canal to pull his 2-year-old sister to safety after she fell in 40-50-degree water.
Also honored were:
-Tyler Nichols of Reno, who at age 11 ran into his burning home to dial 911 and to get his younger brother out of the house.
-Brad Hellyar of Fallon, who at age 13 used the Heimlich maneuver to expel a piece of candy caught in another scout's throat.
-Christopher Noad of Dayton, who at age 12 pulled the 120-pound family Rottweiler off his 10-year-old sister after the dog attacked her.
-Ben Harris of Battle Mountain, who at age 13 helped a hiking companion bitten by a rattlesnake and then ran two miles for help and then led authorities back to his friend.
