The council is the nation's training center for judges and others involved in juvenile and family court issues.
The grant was announced on Friday by Sens. Harry Reid and Richard Bryan.
"The National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges has been instrumental in creating an action plan to help our court systems deal with a disturbing rise in juvenile crime," Reid said. "These grants will help train staff to successfully work with juvenile offenders so that they do not become repeat offenders."
Added Bryan, "This grant gives judges, probation officers and others working in juvenile court services the information they need to deal better with child abuse and neglect cases."
