Mother’s Day at M.A.S.H. Village

Local hair stylists, manicurists and makeup artists have contributed their services to provide some pampering to the attending mothers. Other volunteers will help the children wrap Mother's Day gifts they have picked out from a selection of new clothes, personal items and small necessities.
After the makeovers and gift-wrapping are complete, children and their mothers will be treated to a special lunch. While it may seem like an "extra," the Mother's Day lunch is an integral part of M.A.S.H.'s philosophy.
"This kind of event really emphasizes the 'dignity' that we stress in our Mission Statement," says Ken Robinson, division director of M.A.S.H. Village. "It assists us in strengthening the family unit, which is a vital part of our rehabilitative process."
For many of the event attendees, there have been many years when family gatherings were nonexistent. In allowing the children to choose and wrap presents for their own parent, it becomes less like charity and more like independent action, Robinson says.
