John McCallister, 54, pleaded guilty in February to extortion after he tried to obtain $2 million from Circus Circus Hotel-Casino by threatening to blow it up in an Aug. 18 threat.
U.S. District Judge Philip Pro said McCallister deserved the lengthy prison term because of his extensive criminal record. He called McCallister "a one-man crime wave."
