Free walking tour of historic neighborhood
Friday, May 8, 1998 | 10:50 a.m.
The Las Vegas High School neighborhood, roughly bounded by Sixth and Ninth streets and Gass and Lewis avenues, is the oldest existing residential area left in Las Vegas. Built mostly in the '30s and '40s in a variety of architectural styles, it was home to any pioneer Las Vegans. Although many of the structures have been rehabilitated for use as professional offices, the neighborhood retains the atmosphere of a 1930s residential neighborhood.
The walking tour is sponsored by the Las Vegas City Preservation Commission, the Preservation Association of Clark County and the Nevada State Museum and Historical Society, in celebration of National Historic Preservation Week, May 10-16. For more information, call 486-5205.
