The little girl was walking along the street when she was attacked by the 120-pound animal on Tuesday, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office said.
She was bitten on her left shoulder and dragged her about 20 yards before the animal was beaten off by the girl's parents, authorities said.
Her own dog also came to her aid and fought with the attacking animal.
The animal was seized by animal control officers and quarantined. The owner, Cathi Woods, was cited for maintaining a vicious animal.
The girl was treated for puncture like wounds near her left shoulder and armpit.
