UNLV golf remains nations’ top-ranked team

LAS VEGAS--The UNLV golf team remained the nation's top team in the latest edition of the national MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings released by the College Golf Foundation Wednesday.
The Rebels, who have won four of eight tournaments this spring and a school-record six for the season, are in first place ahead of Clemson, Georgia Tech, Arizona and Georgia.
The Western Athletic Conference had five teams ranked among the top 25. After UNLV came TCU in sixth, Colorado State in 17th, New Mexico in 22nd and Brigham Young in 23rd.
Individually, UNLV's Jeremy Anderson is still ranked third in the nation, while Arizona's Rory Sabbatini remained the top-ranked individual.
Other Rebels ranked were Bill Lunde, who moved up three spots to eighth, Charley Hoffman in 19th, Chris Berry in 58th and Scott Lander in 98th. UNLV was the only team with three players in the top 20.
UNLV most recently finished second at the WAC Championship in Livermore, Calif., April 27-29 and will be back in action Thursday, May 14 through Saturday, May 16 at the NCAA West Regional Championship at ASU's Karsten Golf Course (par 72, 7,037 yards) in Tempe, Ariz.
