Thursday, May 7, 1998 | 5:10 a.m.
Police were called to the convenience store about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday and found a 16-year-old male in the parking lot, suffering several gunshot wounds.
The victim was taken to University Medical Center, where he died of his wounds.
His name is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
Witness information led officers to two suspects, who were apprehended a few blocks away. The suspects, Marcus Andre Dixon, 14, and his cousin, Calvin Demond Dixon, 16, both of Las Vegas, were booked into the Clark County Detention Center on charges of murder with a weapon.
Police said the shooting appears to be gang-related.
Earlier Wednesday, an anonymous caller told police there was a body in the desert near Highway 159, some four miles north of Blue Diamond Road.
Officers found the body of a 35-year-old woman about 50 feet from the roadway.
The woman apparently died of blunt trauma to the head and there were signs of a struggle at the scene.
That victim's name is also being withheld.
The anonymous caller has not been located.
