Letter: Channel 4 dedicated to local government

Thursday, May 7, 1998 | 10:53 a.m.

We would like to apologize for any inconvenience Ashe is experiencing in regard to Channel 4. We think it is important for Ashe and all viewers in Southern Nevada to understand that Channel 4, through an interlocal agreement with Prime Cable, is dedicated to local government programming.

As Clark County's public communications efforts expand with our county's growth, more time is being devoted to county government meetings -- such as live broadcasts of the Board of County Commissioners' meetings, zoning and other programs produced by various government entities in Clark County as well as UNLV. As these programming efforts expand, time that normally was utilized by C-SPAN will be eliminated.

Earlier this year, Prime Cable moved C-SPAN from Channel 4 and transferred to its new home on Channel 67; however, not all cable subscribers have access to Channel 67 at this time. Prime Cable should be contacted for further information on Channel 67's availability.
