Driver killed in wreck involving Highway Patrol car
Thursday, May 7, 1998 | 10:35 a.m.
NHP Trooper Steve Pagni had made a traffic stop in the northbound lanes of U.S. 395 when his patrol car was struck, the Washoe County sheriff's office said.
Pagni was not in the vehicle and was not injured. But the force of the collision pushed his car into the one he had stopped.
The driver of that vehicle was taken to Washoe Medical Center as a precaution, authorities said.
The name of the deceased driver was withheld pending notification of relatives.
The accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. Northbound lanes were tied up for miles during the morning commute as a fire crew continued mop up.
An investigation continued.
