Wednesday, May 6, 1998 | 9:45 a.m.

Jesse Pryor hit a home run leading off the 10th inning, lifting UNLV to a 5-4 college baseball victory over 14th-ranked Arizona State at Wilson Stadium Tuesday.

It was the Rebels' first victory over perennial power ASU since 1987, ending an 0-21 drought against the Sun Devils. UNLV, 30-22, also reached the 30-win plateau for the 21st time.

Bill Scheffels checked ASU on six hits over eight innings before yielding to Andy McCullough, who pitched the final two innings to earn the victory.

Pryor and shortstop Eliott Sarabia had two hits apiece for the Rebels, who outhit the Sun Devils (33-21) 10-9.

UNLV will finish the regular season with a three-game series at New Mexico this weekend. The Rebels must sweep the series to earn the final wild-card berth into next week's Western Athletic Conference tournament in San Diego.
