Letter: Notch babies deserve better from government

Speaking for myself, I am one of those less fortunate and could certainly use the $5,000 that I was wrongfully denied. I have worked in any type of job that I could find and paid taxes as required of me. Let me say that I could certainly use the $5,000 to make my life a little easier.
Green makes the statement that the majority of notch babies relying on Social Security as the only source of income receive food stamps and subsidized housing. Green is woefully wrong; in my 72 years I have never received food stamps or subsidized housing. I have worked and earned everything I have this day, and do not expect someone else to carry my burdens in this life, but I would like to get what is rightfully mine.
As for Green's statement concerning the Notch Fairness Act costing the government $7.5 billion, does he believe that it's OK for the government to give billions of dollars repeatedly to countries that have never come to our aid in our times of need. Perhaps he feels that it's all right to throw money away on causes that have shown no results over many years, such as fighting the use of drugs, tobacco or alcohol.
